Wild Turkey Distillery tours include the factory and facility where the distillation process takes place, the bottling plant, and a tasting in the visitor’s center that overlooks the Kentucky River valley. One might even find the elder statesman of bourbon, Master Distiller Jimmy Russell, greeting visitors and signing bottles.
Master Distiller Jimmy Russell is the longest tenured Master Distiller in the world and has worked at the Wild Turkey Distillery since 1954.
The name Wild Turkey has only been around since 1940 when an executive at the company was on a hunting trip and his buddies suggested he bring some of that “wild turkey bourbon” on their next trip.
Wild Turkey was founded in 1869 by The Ripy Family.
