An American Brandy company, Copper & Kings Distillery opened with a brand new distillery located in Butchertown, which is adjacent to downtown Louisville. Founded by Joe and Leslie Heron, their ambition is to make beautiful apple and grape brandies in a uniquely non-traditional, modern American idiom.
The word brandy is derived from the Dutch word “brandewijn” or “burnt wine”, referring to the boiling of wine during the distilling process.
Copper & Kings copper pot-stills were manufactured in Louisville, Kentucky fellow Butchertown neighbors, Vendome Copper And Brassworks.
Music is “pulsed” through the cellar during the aging process to create a “distillate wave” which results in the increased frequency of contact inside the barrels over time.
