Master Distiller Marianne Barnes and her team are resurrecting the historic Old Taylor Distillery site into what will soon be Castle and Key Distillery. They will produce a bourbon, rye and gin. The name Castle & Key gives homage to Colonel E. H. Taylor who originally built the distillery unlike any other, featuring a limestone castle, elaborate gazebos, and sunken gardens.
Colonel E. H. Taylor built the original Old Taylor Distillery in 1887.
Marianne Barnes is the only female Master Distiller in the state of Kentucky.
Castle and Key will only use grains sourced from local Kentucky farmers to get close to what would have been used during Colonel Taylor’s era.
